Why This Trip?
We don't think you should travel all the way to the Maldives just to see the beach from your sunbed.
We've created a week that gives you both.
The Paradise
A tiny tropical island.
White-sand beaches. Turquoise lagoon.
Palm trees. Warm Indian Ocean.
The Adventure
Coral gardens. Sharks. Turtles. Stingrays.
Sandbanks. An uninhabited island.
Sunsets. Bonfire nights.
And The Time To Do Nothing
Because this is still the Maldives. There will be days when your only decision should be: Beach or snorkelling?
The Island
Thinadhoo
Forget traffic, shopping centres and busy resort promenades. Thinadhoo is a tiny local island in Vaavu Atoll, surrounded by the Indian Ocean and wrapped in tropical vegetation. It's the kind of place where life slows down naturally. Thinadhoo combines something we love about the Maldives: the beauty people travel thousands of kilometres to see, but with the character and atmosphere of a real inhabited island.
The beach and lagoon give you the classic Maldives. And the waters of Vaavu give us our playground for the week.
The Hotel
Ecoboo Maldives
Ecoboo Maldives is a 40-room eco-boutique hotel on Thinadhoo, designed around nature, comfort and a more sustainable approach to island hospitality. One of its most distinctive features is its architecture: the property was constructed using more than 8,000 bamboo poles, with bamboo and natural materials continuing throughout the hotel's design and furnishings. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal — exactly what you want from a barefoot island stay — while still offering the facilities and services needed for a comfortable week in the Maldives.
Rooms & Facilites
Ecoboo offers several room categories, from double rooms to larger family accommodation, including Orchid Double, Red Coral Double, Ocean Breeze, Bamboo Loft, Coconut Suite and Lemon Grass. Around the hotel you'll also find:
Beach relaxation areas and loungers-Free Wi-Fi- Meeting facilities- Kids' space- Kayaks and SUP boards- Snorkelling equipment- Yoga and wellness activities
The hotel's main restaurant, Bamboo Bistro, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner — and this is where your Full Board meals are served.
For something lighter during the day, Acqua Lounge is a beachfront bar. It offers an à la carte selection of light bites, tapas, and tropical fruit, along with fresh mocktails and drinks, overlooking the ocean.
Ecoboo offers spa treatments and massages.
Ecoboo Cruise and Sol Terrace
Because Thinadhoo is a local Maldivian island, alcohol is not permitted on the island itself. Ecoboo has its own safari/cruise boat positioned offshore, giving guests a place to relax on the water. Entrance to Ecoboo Cruise is complimentary for guests, while drinks and food ordered there are paid separately. Sol Terrace floating bar serves cocktails, wines and spirits, as well as seafood, snacks and à-la-carte dishes. There's lounge seating with panoramic ocean views, and Ecoboo also advertises live DJ sets.
So although you're staying on a peaceful local island, you can still head out for a cocktail, a glass of wine and an evening on the water.
Free access for Ecoboo guests • Alcohol and additional food purchased separately on board
-
Your first proper introduction to the Indian Ocean. We leave Thinadhoo behind and head out to sea.
Our destination?
A beautiful coral garden and one of those tiny Maldivian sandbanks that looks almost unreal from the boat.
Mask on. Fins on. And into the water.
Swim. Lie on the sand. Take photos. Drink a fresh coconut. Look around.
-
This is the day for the wildlife lovers. We head out with our local guides to explore some of the area's marine-life spots. We're looking for some of the animals everyone hopes to encounter in the Maldives:
Sharks. Sea turtles. Stingrays.
And whatever else the ocean decides to show us that day.
This isn't an aquarium.
These are wild animals in their natural environment — which is exactly what makes every encounter different.
Our team will guide you in the water and capture photographs and underwater video along the way.
Your job? Look around. And try not to forget to breathe.
-
Today we leave the inhabited islands behind. We head to Bodumohora, an uninhabited island where the plan becomes very simple:
Swim. Snorkel. Eat. Play. Dance. Laugh. Repeat.
Our team prepares a Maldivian-style BBQ, while we spend the day enjoying the beach and ocean. There will be music. Games. Photos. Plenty of swimming. This is less of an excursion and more of a day with your people on your own little piece of the Maldives.
-
We save something special for the evening. As the heat of the day disappears, we head back onto the ocean toward a sandbank.
No big itinerary. Just our group, music, ocean, and sunset. We watch the sky change over the Indian Ocean. Then, as darkness arrives, we light the bonfire.
Bare feet in the sand. Music playing. Stars overhead. Ocean all around us.
You simply have to be there.
-
This is important.
We don't want to turn your Maldives holiday into a seven-day timetable. Between our experiences, you'll have time to enjoy Thinadhoo your way. Sleep longer. Find your favourite spot on the beach.
Snorkel. Read. Walk around the island. Have another coconut. Do absolutely nothing.
